Thursday, January 26, 2011 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Presented by: Dea Fischer, Canmore Public Library
Hosted By: Canmore Public Library
Not a week goes by that we don’t hear another dire prediction about the expected demise of traditional libraries. Yet our circulation figures tell a different story! Books look set to continue their 1500-year record as a favoured format. Every library can benefit a great deal by caring for and preserving its circulating book collection. Repeated incorrect handling and storage of a book can quickly transform a new book into a worn or even an unusable one. Proper handling and storage can prolong its life.
Join Dea Fischer to discuss methods of raising preservation awareness with your staff and patrons, and learn some excellent tips and tricks to avoid or delay some of the most common types of damage that occur in every library.
This session will be interactive and participation will be limited to seven (7) RISE libraries plus the host site.
Out of respect for presenters and the host library, please advise your RISE Consultant in advance if you have registered for this program and are no longer able to participate in this session. Thank you.
